Book Worm Wednesday- a new child training book!

Book Worm Wednesday

This week has been a busy week for me, and I haven't had much time for reading, but I did want to share about a book that I just ordered, and received in the mail just yesterday. It's called, teach them diligently....How to use the Scriptures in Child Training. The author is Lou Priolo. I'm really excited about this book for our family. Let me share some the Preface with you....

"So many books....so little Scripture"

"The bookshelves in your home no doubt contain volumes of books, manuals, seminar notes, magazine articles, and video and audio cassettes, purporting to address parenting from a Christian point of view. Some of these works, while claiming to be biblical, may actually contain "insights" that were gleaned from humanistic pop-psychology but are foreign to the Bible. Other tools in your parenting tool chest are doubtless very biblical and helpful. With the rare exception, however, most of today's Christian parenting resources fail to emphasize what is perhaps the most important aspect of true biblical parenting-how to relate the Bible to the disciplinary process in practical ways. Think about it. With all your training, do you really know how to use the Bible for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness with your children?............. Lou Priolo

So, if that sounds interesting to you....I ordered this book from the company Doorposts. You can find their link, on my list of links on the sidebar.

I would love to hear about books that you are reading, or that your kids are reading. My oldest is beginning to read Captain Courageous, by Rudyard Kipling. I'll let you know what he thinks of it. I'll also keep you updated about my new book, and how it is helping us to learn to do a better job in using scriptures to encourage and correct our children!! Happy reading!

  1. We only have one child reader in the house right now and he is mercilessly into joke books. I am starting to regret encouraging this new hobby as I have been inundated with jokes since his books arrived from Amazon 3 days ago. I am even dreaming about his jokes. Nightmares, really. Can't wait for this phase to end so we can get back to adventure stories:). Thanks for visiting my blog!

  2. I am actually reading that book right now (along with 2 others). I am really liking it.
