In His Word Wednesday- Encouragement

II Timothy 4:5,7 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
I don't know about you all, but at the end of my life I want to be able to say, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith! Timothy admonishes us in three things here, to endure afflictions, to work as an evangelist, and to fulfill our ministry. For me, enduring afflictions has been important in the past year. You do have to be watchful, because afflictions can keep you from fulfilling the rest of the admonishment if you are not careful. They can stop you in your tracks, and that is what the Devil is hoping for.
The work of an evangelist is simple. Just telling others about the free gift that has been given to us all. Notice, I said simple, not easy. Prayers for more opportunities to be an evangelist. Fulfilling the ministry is simply keeping up with whatever God has called you to do. For me that is being a wife, a mother, a teacher of my children, a daughter, a sister, a friend. I'm still learning what it means to fulfill all these different ministries. Sometimes we need to be watchful that we are fulfilling all of our ministries! It's easy to neglect some of the important ministries that God has put into our lives.
I'm praying today that I will run the race, fulfill my ministries, endure my afflictions, be an evangelist, and be watchful, that in the end, God will say......well done, good and faithful servant!
